from Rule Britannia to Liberte, Fraternite, Egalite......

I love being British and I'm very patriotic however,
this Union flag screen I picked up really wasn't doing it for me...

so, after many coats of paint to remove the strong colours,
I printed, traced and hand painted a French phrase on it instead...

and here's the result:

"life is a flower of which love is the honey"
(roughly translated in my rusty French!)

Do you like it? I think it would work in either a
modern or a shabby, French style interior and it's
now on sale at Afterglow of Olney

  1. Think your gorgeous screen would be lovely in a bathroom like ours around the garden tub. Maybe? I'd love to have this screen in our bedroom as a head board also, put wording up higher so it can be seen over bed. Oh yes. Hey I'm just old not dead. Have some romance still in me at 74 after 46 yrs. of marriage. Maybe hang some gossamer thin curtains over sides of screen and onto bed some how? Oh yeah I'm feeling it. Maybe we need a screen in our room. The wording would be hard for me to do but hubs could make it for us. What is the last word uriel or? Love the font you used, makes words seem even more seductive. Ohlala. giggle.

    1. Hi! Good to hear from you! and I love your ideas for using my screen. The last word is 'miel' (French for honey). I've been trying to track down the font I used but I can't remember the name and it's lost in the depths of my computer somewhere :(, anyhoo it was a free download so if you're looking for something similar just google free font script and you'll find lots to choose from!
Take care and keep watching x
